Thanks to Jeff Scudder for providing this copy of his father's account of the Attack on Pearl Harbor while serving on the USS Medusa that day. Doremus Platt Scudder was serving aboard the USS Medusa (a repair ship) at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941:

Doremus Platt Scudder 1920-1994 was serving aboard the USS Medusa (a repair ship) at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. His best friend, Jimmy Murphy was KIA on the USS Arizona that day. Doremus's wife also served our country in the nursing corp in WWII. After Peral Harbor Doremus served as a Aerographers Mate in Fiji (see pic below).
After the war, Doremus served as Chief of Police in Mt. Edgecombe, Alaska where he was also involved in the Alaska Native Service, and then as an aviation machinist with North American, he then owned Dury's model shop in Torrance, CA. and subsequently worked with the Southern Pacific Railroad. The Scudder heritage links back to the American Revolution.
